"I should put you over my knee and spank you for teasing me..."
Jake's new boss, Cal Mackenzie, is hotter than hell. Fortified by a little liquid bravery on a work night out, Jake makes his move and finds out that Cal is interested too. To Jake's dismay, Cal makes it clear that nothing is going to happen as long as they work together. Fortunately for both of them, this is just a temp job and there's only a week left in the contract.
Cal admonishes Jake to behave while he waits, but as the week drags on, Jake can't resist flirting and teasing. When Friday finally arrives, Cal shows Jake what happens to people who can't follow his rules. Jake learns a surprisingly enjoyable lesson over Cal's knee--one that he won't forget in a hurry.

Cal and Jake were not the only ones panting hard as the story unfolded. Excellently written (of course a little more BDSM would have been welcomed) but enough came through that if the story had continued I think it would have played out.Product details

An Invitation edition by Jay Northcote Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
An invitation is a steamy novella of work place hook up . It was an Okay read , it just isn't as good as the other books I read by this author.
Steamy little piece of office erotica for you. A HFN ending, but as this story is short, it is mainly just hot office sex. And really, where's the downside?
An enjoyable night time snack, with a side of spanking, to warm your sheets before sleep.

A sexy little read, but was I the only one who wanted it to be even dirtier?
I'm no novice when it comes to spanking porn... I mean, LITERATURE. In fact, it is one of my top 5 favorite kinks. Spanking combined with some really filthy dirty talk... yeah, that's my jam.
I'd consider this spanking kink for those who are just dipping their toes into the world of spank. There is a good amount of lead up to the scene and some relationship development (as much as we can get out of 35 pages), but I found that the finale was a tiny bit of a let down. I think the short either had to be much dirtier or the relationship had to have more page time for met to go from "like" to "love," but it was still a well-written piece of 10-minute goodness.
If you want a spank session-lite and a fun, little story, you'll enjoy this one. For me, I need a much heavier scene to feel 100% satisfied.

I have to be honest and say that short stories can be a bit hit or miss for me. All too often they appear rushed and leave me either wanting or with questions by the time I reach the, in my eyes, premature conclusion. I am very happy to say that Jay Northcote’s ‘An Invitation’ was most definitely a hit for me.
There are few frills to this story. What you see in the blurb is what you get and it is as hot as it sounds.
It was hard not to feel a little sorry for Jake. He is so very attracted to his temporary boss, Cal, he doesn’t quite know what has hit him. And fighting the impossible-to-ignore pull is much harder than it should have been.
“Jake tried to squash it down and lock it away, but it felt as though he were trying to push his desire into a space that was too small for something so powerful.”
Unfortunately for Jake, the situation doesn’t become any easier once he approaches Cal and discovers that the attraction works both ways. Seven days shouldn’t be a long time to wait for anything, but when you want something as much as Jake wants Cal, a week might as well be a lifetime.
“It wasn’t that Jake was inexperienced – far from it – but none of his previous flirtations or relationships had even come close to the raw desperation that Cal inspired in him.”
Of course this wouldn’t be a Jay Northcote book if things didn’t get very interesting and very hot as soon as Cal lifts his embargo. Jake is in for a little bit more than he thought he might encounter, but he’s not complaining. Under Cal’s more than purposeful hand, Jake discovers new desires and pleasures and I must admit I enjoyed every single moment of his awakening.
As I’ve come to expect from a work by Jay Northcote, this story was well written, populated by fun yet realistic characters, easy to read, great fun, and very steamy. Reading ‘An Invitation’, turned out to be a truly delightful way to spend my lunch hour (even if I’m not sure stories like this should be read in public).
Review written for Love Bytes Reviews.
This was a fun little read that was the perfect pick me up in the middle of the day. ) What you see with the blurb is basically what you get so I won’t bother rehashing the entire thing and too much else and I risk ruining the story altogether. I liked that Jake wasn’t afraid to show how much he desired his boss (within reason and not to overtly) and it was nice seeing him make the first move rather than waiting for Cal to do it. While I understood Cal’s desire not to move forward with his attraction until Jake wasn’t his employee anymore, I also couldn’t help but grin at the way Jake was pushing things a little as the week dragged on.
There is a little bit of mild kink in the form of a spanking when Jake and Cal finally get together but I don’t think it would really bother anyone who isn’t into that type of thing. Besides, the sex afterwards was good enough that the kink was fairly quickly passed by. If you’re looking for a quick read to pick up your day or something a little bit smutty to get you through a break, I’d recommend giving this one a look; it may have been short but it was still satisfying in all the right places. D
That was adorably kinky... mild BDSM from Jay Northcote, very nice.
A short, hot read. There wasn't really an establishing relationship between Cal and Jake, and I would have liked have more of the story.
Cal and Jake were not the only ones panting hard as the story unfolded. Excellently written (of course a little more BDSM would have been welcomed) but enough came through that if the story had continued I think it would have played out.
